Web agency to design news magazine website Ontario

Local newspapers are facing a huge problem and many are closing their doors because readership is down. That’s when the Martensville Messenger turned to Zeal Media for an online newspaper web design. We understood that their website had to be so much more than just a pretty design, it had to be functional and generate income with advertising. After a few brainstorming sessions, we worked with the owners to develop a strategy.

We set up the newspaper web design with all the recent news front and centre and a latest news ticker scrolling across the header. The news is broken down by category with most recent featuring a larger image. The site was to be continually updated, so when the website was completed a training session made the owners feel comfortable with posting and updating their new online newspaper website. To make sharing news even easier, we automated the website with a social media plugin to automatically post news articles to their Twitter, Instagram and Facebook pages.

To generate income we established a business directory and banner advertising. With Google Analytics, we are able to see the increase in traffic to the website compared to their last website. Shortly after the newspaper website went live, the statistics showed and increase of 10x more than the last website!

We have also designed banners for the tradeshows and community events they participate in.

Our finished project was even better than we expected. Highly recommend Zeal Media!
