Raised in central Saskatchewan, owner Ryan Boutin’s love for graphic design began at the age of 12, when his family purchased their first computer (1988). His love for graphic design developed as he learned how to use Printmaster and CorelDraw 1.0. He used them to design invitations, posters and banners. He finished high school in 1995 then went to study graphic design at college a year later. This took him to the Edmonton campus of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT).
Ryan returned to Saskatoon in search of a job after graduating from NAIT. Finding nothing in the field of graphic design, he made ends meet with labourer jobs. In the fall of 1998, he started an alarm company with his father and brother. Ryan poured his graphic and web design skills into marketing this business. It became one of the fastest growing private alarm companies in Western Canada. They sold the company in 2009 when Ryan’s father wished to slow down. Ryan’s career immediately shifted as he started a new company building homes.
In January 2011, Ryan founded Zeal Media Inc. The purpose was to serve small business owners in Saskatoon and central Saskatchewan. His 20+ years of graphic and web design experience was now available to help others.
Zeal Media is always looking at the small business owner’s digital marketing needs, adding many new services since opening in 2011. Among those services are social media advertising, ecommerce and email marketing. Zeal Media now serves small business owners across Canada and into the United States. What started with one person in Central Saskatchewan is becoming an international marketing brand.
Our goal is to help small business owners bring in more customers. Marketing is constantly evolving. It looks so different from 10 years ago, even two years ago. We make sure our clients do not get left behind. We continually research, learn and improve our services and marketing techniques.
Many small business owners know little about marketing when they first step up to the plate. It ends up being a swing and a miss until they gain more experience or get help from a marketing firm. During boom times, we sometimes see companies thrive with little to no marketing. They are so fragile and often disappear when the economy slows.
Sustainable business growth needs marketing.
It is so satisfying when our clients experience growth. We love seeing them add staff to match the increased demand we helped them create. It shows we have accomplished our mission! Our target is next level growth.
A man who stops advertising to save money is like a man who stops a clock to save time.~ Henry Ford
