Local SEO refers to the process of helping a business rank locally for the products and services that it provides. There are two places that a business can rank on Google. One is the local pack, also referred to as Google Places. The second is in organic search with text and links. Local search is more focused on ranking in the local pack.
Whether or not you have a website, ranking on Google is still possible locally. A Google Business Profile can help you reach up to 33% of people searching locally for your products and services.
