I was recently surfing the web looking at websites and designs. Often I stumble across a company website that was designed by the owner’s friend or family member in an attempt to save some money. The person usually has limited experience and knowledge when it comes to website design and integration, and can often forget important details.

When I am approached by a business to redesign their site that was designed by their brother-in-law who learned website basics by using Microsoft Word, my eyes get wide. If you want a professional website, trust a professional. Though you may save money having it designed by “someone you know”, the amount of potential business you miss out on may be much bigger.

Take care of the customers and the business will take care of itself.

When and if a web surfer arrives at your website, you have five seconds to grab their attention. If they are annoyed with pages that are “under construction” or load slowly, poorly edited graphics and broken links, you can be sure it will turn away visitors faster than they arrived.

The initial cost of a professional website is worth the investment and will grab new clients and customers without driving them away. I once heard someone say, “Take care of the customers and the business will take care of itself.” This means that it’s best to focus on what’s most important and let the detailed items be handled by trained professionals.

If your website has some “unfinished business”, give us a call. You’ll be glad you did!
